The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Verne Batcheller can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Anna Lou and the Batcheller family, During the 10 years that I knew Verne, we formed a bond that went beyond just being neighbors. Many a time, Verne and I would sit on his deck watching the lake and the world go by. We would share memories. Generally we weren't trying to solve the world's problems, just visiting as friends do. As Verne's eyesight dimmed over years, I believe his memories became more vivid. Verne had a way of sharing his life's stories. Each one had to be set up with significant details and delivered in a way only Verne could do. Often Anna would interrupt saying "And your point is?". Verne would take it in stride and continue with his delivery. As the years passed, often the stories were re-runs with intermittent occasional new content. It didn't matter. We were just friends visiting.
