Condolence: You were my brother. When we were young people mistook us for each other. We looked so much alike that, when you did something rotten, they accused me of doing it! I got in trouble and didn't know why! Just like every brother in our family, we were so different, but so much the same. We shared some wonderful times. My love to you and your family.

Condolence From: Lyle Schuknecht
Condolence: Anna Lou and the Batcheller family, During the 10 years that I knew Verne, we formed a bond that went beyond just being neighbors. Many a time, Verne and I would sit on his deck watching the lake and the world go by. We would share memories. Generally we weren't trying to solve the world's problems, just visiting as friends do. As Verne's eyesight dimmed over years, I believe his memories became more vivid. Verne had a way of sharing his life's stories. Each one had to be set up with significant details and delivered in a way only Verne could do. Often Anna would interrupt saying "And your point is?". Verne would take it in stride and continue with his delivery. As the years passed, often the stories were re-runs with intermittent occasional new content. It didn't matter. We were just friends visiting.

Condolence From: Anne Batcheller
Condolence: Dear Anna and family, What a loss, but what a life. Matt used to call him "Uncle Horny" because he couldn't pronounce his name. How perfect because he had such a great sense of humor! He sure loved to tease and could take it back. I think it (good or bad) runs in the family:) Miss Anna, I can't imagine your loss. You were definitely meant to be together. Who else would put up with whom?! You two have made such an incredible family. Family. You and Verne are the definition of that. We can't be there for the service, but we will be with you in heart and spirit. Our love to you and all who love "Uncle Horny" :)
