Obituary for Scott Sherk

Scott W. Sherk, 67, of Webster City, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Israel Hospice House at Ames. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Missionary Alliance Church at Blairsburg. Private burial will be held prior to the service in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191 of Webster City. Scott Williams Sherk, son of Joseph and Ann Williams Sherk, was born March 22, 1940 at Saginaw, Michigan. He received his education at Midland, MI and attended Michigan State and the Fishback School of Photography in California. He served in the U.S. Navy for a short time and spent considerable time traveling various here and abroad. On November 20, 1976, he married Paula Kay Eslick at the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg. The couple resided at Webster City were he had been employed with Marv Carpenter Construction, Hamilton Hospital and was self-employed, operating a lawn care business. He retired because of failing health. Scott is survived by his wife, Paula; daughters and son-in-law,Kristin Jo Sherk of Los Angeles, CA; Melissa and Jeremy McVicker of Webster City; grandchildren, Lane and Laci McVicker; sister,Sandra Chadwick of Weaverville, CA; several nieces and nephews and granddog, Maguy. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church and the Audubon Society. His enjoyments included his grandchildren, the outdoors, animals, landscaping, gardening and football.
