The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Merrill Hinderks can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Wayne & Anna Ostermann

Merrill loved God and he loved people. Merrill fulfilled the Greatest Commandment which is to love God and love your neighbor. I had the privilege of meeting Merrill in the U.S. Army in 1960 as we were both waiting to take a train from Fort Gordon Georgia to Fort Riley Kansas. That was the beginning of a life long friendship that resulted in Merrill becoming a Best Friend of mine as well as our extended family. Because of many moves made by our family, we would sometimes go for a long time without seeing each other, but Merrill if nearby in his truck would always try to look us up and it was always as if we had never been apart more than a few days. Perhaps one of Merrill's greater gifts was his beautiful singing voice and guitar playing ability. When we got together, we would sing for hours everything from old Gospel, Country and Western, and Songs of Praise to God. Merrill, of course, singing much better than I. Here on earth we have lost a Great Friend, but Heaven has gained a Great Trophy and Merrill will be there waiting to welcome all of us who love and have received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Can you imagine Merrill having “The Time of His Life” (I realize that is an earthly term) singing with the Heavenly Choir and singing Praises to The King of Kings? I believe our Father God asks Merrill to do Special Numbers just for Him, and I believe it puts a great big smile on His face. Merrill, you left a Big Footprint here on earth and we miss you, but because we love you, we rejoice that you are receiving your Eternal Reward in a place where there is no more suffering. With much love and memories that could go on and on, Merrill, we bid you “Farewell, until we meet again”. Wayne and Anna Ostermann and family
