Obituary for William Paul Muessigmann

William "Bill" Muessigmann, 74, of Stanhope, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Trinity in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Eichler officiating. Burial will be held at Lawn Hill Cemetery south of Stanhope. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. William Paul Muessigmann, son of Paul and Esther Siems Muessigmann, was born August 15, 1943 in Iowa Falls. He graduated from Randall High School in 1962. He married Jeanette Elaine Range on November 24, 1968 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City. Bill was a truck driver, working for Hove Trucking for 15 years and Webster City Custom Meats for 28 years before retiring in 2012. Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Stanhope, children, Matthew (Jenny) Muessigmann of Boone, Mary Glynn of Stanhope; grandson, Michael Timothy Hobbs; brothers, Donald (Carolyn) Muessigmann of Mason City, Gerald (Carmen) Muessigmann of Clark, South Dakota, and Duaine (Mina) Muessigmann of Santee, California; sister, Phyllis Range of Ames and his dog, Penny. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Lybarger; brother, Richard Muessigmann; father-in-law, Henry Range; mother-in-law, Lucille Range; nieces, Gaile Range and Renee Muessigmann; son-in-law, Jonathan Glynn; brother-in-law, Luverne Range; beloved pets, Siamba, Corky, Jack, and Sergeant. Bill was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was very active in the congregation. He was a Church Elder, helped with Sunday School, served on the funeral committee, was an usher, a part of the Men's Club and was President of the Lutheran Adult Fellowship. Bill was President of the Stanhope Lions, a member of the Stanhope Fire Department, the Stanhope Housing Maintenance Director, and the sexton of Lawn Hill Cemetery.
