Obituary for Wendell A. Holmes

Wendell A. Holmes, 45, of Webster City, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Israel Family Hospice House at Ames. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Chapel, with Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek officiating. Wendell Allen Holmes, son of Ray and June Woodruff Holmes, was born February 5, 1964 at Boone, Iowa. He received his education in the Boone Public Schools graduating in 1983. He had managed a carwash at Newton for several years and was the apartment manager for Easy Keep at Newton. He had retired because of failing health. Wendell is survived by his mother, June Holmes of Cambridge; sisters, Melody Young of Webster City; Helen Shearer of Casey; Rosella Holmes of Odgen; Lou Anderson of Boone; brothers, Tom Holmes of Webster City; Paul Holmes of Texas; Husie Holmes of Cambridge; Donny Holmes of Boone; Ernie Holmes of Hudson; William Holmes of Webster City; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Lila Holmes Silva.
