Obituary for Vera Mae Burtnett

Vera M. Burtnett, 83, of Webster City, died Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Chris Burtnett officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service. Vera Mae Hansen, daughter of Charles and Nellie Malaise Hansen, was born November 24, 1930 in Woolstock Township. She received her education in Freemont 7 Township Country School. On January 23, 1949, she married Duane H. Burtnett at Webster City. The couple resided at Blairsburg and Webster City. Vera worked as a cook at the Marvel Sale Barn, then as a cashier at Places, next she managed the concession stand for the Webster City Races and finally was a cook for the Webster City School system. Duane preceded her in death on May 2, 2014. Vera is survived by; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Connie Burtnett of Nevada; Doug and Sue Burtnett and Dennis Burtnett, all of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ken Inman of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Hansen of Webster City; four nieces, two nephews and their families. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Gary Hansen. Vera was a member of the Church of Christ.
