Obituary for Torges Halsne

Torges Jonathon Halsne, son of Rasmus and Bertha Halsne Halsne, was born June 28, 1911 on the family homestead southwest of Williams. He received his education in Williams rural schools. He started farming with his father. On December 3, 1936 he married Helen M. Bell on the Bell family farm north of Blairsburg. The couple operated the family farm southwest of Williams. Mrs. Halsne died February 10, 2006. He had resided at Southfield Assisted Living for the past two years. Torges is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Grant and Jan Halsne of Decorah; Dennis and Linda Halsne of Slater; daughter and son-in-law, Luana and Donald Beeson of Olney, MD; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Bell of Des Moines; sister-in-law, June Hansen of Chicago Heights, IL; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Halsne; his parents; granddaughter in infancy, Nancy Kay Halsne; sisters, Serena Long; Gladys Larson; Jeanette Miller; brothers, Milo, Harold, Reuben and Percy Halsne. Memorials may be given in memory of Torges to the U.C.C. - Congregational at Blairsburg or the Rose Grove Lutheran Church in Williams.
