Obituary for Shirley Keigan

Keigan, Shirley Ann Rierson, 77, of State Center, Iowa passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Shirley Ann Rierson was born on July 30, 1931 to Selmar and Alice Wells Rierson of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1949. On October 19, 1952, she married Kenneth C. Keigan in Webster City, Iowa. The couple resided in several Iowa communities throughout their married life, including Le Mars, Webster City, Williamsburg, Boone and most recently State Center. Shirley had a large family,and that's what she enjoyed most. You could often find her on her front porch surrounded by her lovely flowers, with her cat, reading a book, and enjoying a nice cup of tea. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jerry Schaeffer. Survivors include her husband Kenneth; sons, Mike (Kathy) of Knoxville, TN; Gary (Becky) of Fort Collins, CO; David of State Center, IA; Jim (Sherri) of Story City, IA; Tim (Tammy) Keigan of State Center, IA; daughters, Pam (Robert) Mack of Fairfield, IA; Susan (Quintin) Gerard of Eldridge, IA; Stephanie (Roger) Singer of Golden,CO; 19 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Denny Ryerson of Phoenix, AZ; sister, LaVonne Schaeffer of Tempe AZ; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009 at the St. Petri Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Cass Township Cemetery north east of Webster City. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center in Webster City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to The Ericson Public Library in Boone, IA or the American Diabetes Association.
