Obituary for Sharon Hertzke

Sharon Hertzke, 73, of Ellsworth, died Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Ellsworth, with Rev. Christopher Staley officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be two hours before the service. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Sharon Kay Dorenbush, daughter of John and Gertrude Wessels Dorenbush, was born May 4, 1937 at Buffalo Center, Iowa. She attended the Lakota Public School, where she was valedictorian of her class in 1955. On October 1, 1955, she married Harlan Hertzke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Lakota. The couple resided at Buffalo Center. They moved to Ellsworth in 1964. She was secretary for the South Hamilton Elementary School. Mrs. Hertzke is survived by her husband, Harlan, sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Susie Hertzke of Bolivar, Mo.; Kent and Sandy Hertzke of Ames; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Arlo Dorenbush of Boone; Mark Dorenbush of Jewell; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Ellsworth.
