Obituary for Roger L. Carlson

Roger L. Carlson, 80, of Webster City, formerly of Stanhope, died Saturday September 12, 2009 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at the Stanhope Parish Church with Rev. Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawn Hill Cemetery south of Stanhope. Visitation will begin Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center in Webster City. Roger Louis Carlson son of Ferman and Vera Vaubel Carlson was on August 28, 1929 on the Carlson farm west of Stanhope. Roger received his education from the Stanhope area schools. Following his education, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed for over 20 years at Fisher Control Company in Marshalltown, Iowa. Roger had been residing at Crestview Senior Living since October of 2007. Survivors include his sister, Donna (Dale) Ahrens of Stratford; nephews, Brian (Linda) Ahrens of Madrid; Brook (Julie) Ahrens of Stratford; great nephews, Tjaden and Tyler Ahrens of Madrid; and Dillan Ahrens of Stratford. Roger was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the Stanhope Parish Church and was also a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City.
