The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Roger Balsley can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: It is with sadness that I learned of Roger's passing. As his former principal at Webster City High School, I can still recall my many conversations with Roger. He was a dedicated teacher who really worked to instill in his students the importance of math in their lives. My sympathies to Berneta and his children and grandchildren.

Condolence: To the Roger Balsley Family, We would like to say thank you for Roger's involvement with the Friends Forever Social Education Center Program. Roger helped promote our program and advocated for our members with intellectual, mental health, and physical disabilities. Roger played an instrumental role in making our new building a reality. At our ground breaking on July 16, 2003, Roger made the following remarks: "It is not what we say Or do here today that matters; For what we say Will not long be remembered. Rather it is the commitment That has been made To those that carry The heavier burden Of physical or mental impairment. To those citizens This facility is dedicated: That they might have a better life." Thank you Roger for your service on our advisory board, the time dedicated to our program, and for the wonderful murals displayed on the walls of Friends Forever. The support the members received from you will always be treasured. You will be dearly missed. -Friends Forever Social Education Center Members and Staff

Condolence: I worked with Roger at Iowa Central, we shared the same office. I was always in awe of his many talents - the suits, shirts, and jackets that he made, the house that he built with his son. It was amazing. Playing the part of Frankenstein in the city play. His poems and his humor. Very sorry for your loss. Doug Wilson
