Condolence: My family recently learned of Bob's death, July 16, 2018. I remember meeting him, in Mallard, IA., when we both were visiting Ben and Rose Doerning. They were my Dad's (Clarence Doerning) aunt and uncle. Bob was 5 yrs older than I, and he was the most handsome young man ever! His tallness and black hair were so stunning, esp. when I was age 5. He was most kind as he spoke to me and told me goodbye upon his leaving. I've never forgotten him through all the passage of yrs. My entire family sends to you and all your family, our heartfelt sympathy. May you all find peace and comfort and may loving memories of him surround him for years. Sincerely, Mary Kay (Doerning) & Jerry Dittberner, Pat and Sara Doerning, Greg Doerning.

Condolence: Mr Doerning was such a wonderful teacher and friend to have. I enjoyed being able to be a luckly one to be able to join him and Marty on the wonderful trip to London in the Summer of 1994. I remember that trip so fondly and wish I could take my husband and be able to show him everything that Mr Doerning and you Marty were able to show me there. It was so incredible to have such a wonderful trip because of the love he had for sharing the adventures of learning and literature with us. I will be forever grateful for that. It will be a trip I will always cherish. My thoughts are with you Marty and Regina and the rest of your family in the loss of such a wonderful man. May he be able to rest among the wonderful writers and poets he loves and read all the literature and hear all the wonderful songs he enjoys for all of eternity and be happy. Jodi Hutchinson Harms
