Obituary for Patricia Lawson

Patricia A. Lawson, 74, of Stanhope, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City, with Rev. Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Patricia Ann Wiar daughter of Maurice and Louise Ryan Wiar was born on October 12, 1934 in Webster City. She received her education and graduated from Webster City Lincoln High School in 1952. On August 24, 1953 she married Edward Loren Lawson in Webster City. The couple resided in Stanhope, where Mr. Lawson built the families home. Pat loved cooking and worked for many years at Minny's Café and the Capri Lounge both in Stanhope. She most recently worked at the Ames Hy-Vee salad bar until her retirement in 2004. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Todd Frank of Phoenix, AZ; Michelle (Shelly) and Doug Riley of Urbandale; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Judy Lawson of Menlo; grandchildren, Michael Lawson Jr., Paul Lawson, Amanda Merfeld, Nichalas Consier, Brandon Reinhardt and Tucker Frank; great grandchildren, Samantha, McKenzie, and Noah; step granddaughter, Angela Mayes; step great grandchildren, Ross, Kara, Reagan, Riley and Natalie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Micole, her parents, her sister Mary and, and step grandson, William Nixon. Mrs. Lawson was a member of the Stanhope Parish Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, caring for the birds and squirrels around her home. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors.
