Obituary for Mary Jane Bashford

Mary Jane Bashford, 87, of Webster City, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Graceland Cemetery, with Rev. Tony Ede officiating. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Mary Jane Lanahan, daughter of Ralph and Hilda Rasmussen Lanahan, was born March 23, 1925 at Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City school system, graduating from Lincoln High in 1943. On July 24, 1949, she married Eugene Carson Bashford at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City. She had been employed at Fairmont Foods, Selby Poultry, business manager for the Freeman Journal for 17 years, Hahne Printing and City of Webster City. She retired in 1988. Mr. Bashford died March 10, 1956, Mary Jane is survived by nephew, Patrick (Joette) Gardner of Dumfries, VA; two great-nephews, Jeffery and Robert Gardner; several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Lanahan and sister, Anne Gardner. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, former member of the Webster City Women's Club and the Rebekah Lodge.
