Condolence: Nancy and kids, Even though it has been a couple of years since the last time I talked to Mark, I will always remember him. From my little kid days just hanging out at the station, he always had time for Earl's kid. Years later, after becoming a firefighter and instructor, he allowed me to come back and help teach during a live burn. Again, always making time. Perhaps the best memory I will have is just talking with him. He is about the only other person I knew who has an unlimited amount of "useless' facts running through their head. Sometimes the whole talk would be nothing but trying to out do each other on obscure information. Sorry I was unable to attend the funeral, but know that he will be missed by Earl's kid.

Condolence: Nancy, Maren, and Joe, Mark was a wonderful friend to me and most everyone he came into contact with. Mark took me under his wing almost the moment I started as a volunteer firefighter in 1981, He was my mentor and I always looked up to him, he was always researching something, whether it was militarily related or fire department related or scuba diving related, he was always well versed on the topic at hand. He will be missed dearly, Mark and I had many long talks at the fire department while we were both there, I will always remember when we went up to bradgate quarry almost weekly scuba diving we knew that quarry like the back of our hands, or when we went to lake superior to dive on the ship wrecks, he had done his homework there as well, knew more about the history of those ships almost more than the locals did. Five years before he got his Harley, he told me that he had already started saving and that he would have one of the 100th anniversary editions, he was so excited the day he told me that he actually got to order the “BIKE” of his dreams. Then the day came that he actually got to bring it home, the buttons were popping off his shirt. Mark put up one heck of a fight to beat this thing called cancer, but now the good lord has called mark home, God decided he needed his wisdom in heaven, I am sure that if there are Harley's up there he and God are riding side by side having a good time. God gave us all 58 years of his presence in this world and God gave me the honor of knowing him for almost 30 of those. May God be with you in this difficult time and may he be your solace.
