Obituary for Marjorie LaVonne Smith

Marjorie Smith, 91, of Stratford, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Stratford, with Rev. Jim Mead officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service on Monday. Marjorie LaVonne Bullock, daughter of Edward and Lela Martin Bullock, was born March 7, 1924 near Galva, Iowa. In 1929, the family moved to Stratford. On May 31, 1947, she married Claire McFarland at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They resided at Stratford. Mr. McFarland died December 13, 1973. On November 29, 1979, she married Clement Smith and the couple resided on a farm north of Stratford. Mr. Smith died January 5, 1993. She had been employed at the Star Laundry and Raska Upholstery, both in Webster City and also assisted in the farming operation. Mrs. Smith is survived by her children and spouses, Larry and Janet Bullock of Webster City; Sandra Shaw of Ogden; Zelda Allcott of Van Meter; Vickie and Steve Seliger of Ames; Steve and Vicki Smith of Stratford; Michael and Lisa Smith of Kimberling City, MO; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sister Marla Smith of Ames and Harriet Weeg of Boone. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lois, Gladys, Vera, and Deloris; great-grandson, Chance; sons-in-law, Gary Allcott and Dick Shaw.
