Obituary for Loren Scott

Loren Scott, 69, of Stratford, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Saturday at the Stratford Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joe Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, north of Stratford. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and prior to the service on Saturday. Loren William Scott, son of Harold and Louise Swanson Scott, was born January 20, 1940 at the Boone County Hospital. He received his education in the Stratford Public School, graduating in 1957. He also attended the Boone Junior College and DeVry Institute. On August 1, 1959, he married Barbara Ann Thompson at the Stratford Lutheran Church. The couple resided at Stratford. He worked with his father in the Scott Plumbing and Heating Business. In 1993, Scott Plumbing and Heating was renamed L & C Plumbing and Heating. Loren is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughters and sons-in-law, Duanna and Ryan Thompson of Ogden; Lisa and Greg Bergman of Stratford; Michele and Doug Hanson of West Des Moines; Amy and Terry Shaw of Madrid; son, Colin Scott of Stratford; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons; brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Peggy Scott of Stratford; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Keith Ferguson of Dayton; sister-in-law, Lila Scott of Boone; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wendell Scott. He was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church, Amateur Radio Club at Boone and was Storm Spotter. Previously Loren was a member of the Stratford Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and Stratford School Board.
