Obituary for Lois Viola Carlberg

Lois V. Carlberg, 87, of Stratford, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Stratford Lutheran Church with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, north of Stratford. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the Stratford Lutheran Church from 5:30 p.m until 7:30 p.m. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center. Lois Viola Stohr, daughter of John and Grace Alphs Stohr was born on November 13, 1923 in Woden, Iowa. She received her education from the Woden community school . On July 11, 1945, she married Iver E. Carlberg at Fort Dodge. The couple resided on the Carlberg family farm south of Stratford. Mr. Carlberg died October 15, 1969. Mrs. Carlberg moved into Stratford in February of 1974. In the 1990's, she began baking for In Good Company at Stratford. Survivors include daughters, Jean (Tom) Tilley of Boone; Peggy (Darle) Myers of Lehigh; son, Jim Carlberg of Stratford; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a brother, Elmer Stohr of Buffalo Center; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Iver, she was preceded in death by grandchildren, Michael and Mindy Sue Myers, three brothers, one sister, and her parents. Lois was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stratford Lutheran Church.
