Leo J. Klaver, 78, of Kamrar, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Hamilton Hospital. A Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church east of Kamrar, with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Presbyterian Church on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Leo John Klaver son of Ben P. and Ollie B. Naber Klaver was born January 15, 1931 on a farm south of Kamrar. He attended Liberty Center Rural School and graduated from Kamrar High School in 1948. On February 24, 1956 he married Patricia (Pat) McCollough at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. The couple resided on a farm northeast of Kamrar, where Leo farmed for over 50 years. They moved into Kamrar in 1999. Survivors include his wife, Pat of 53 years; sons, Lenny Klaver (DeAnn Possehl) of Kenosha, WI; Jerry (Patrice) Klaver of Kamrar; daughter, Peggy (Mark) Roberts of Webster City; grandchildren, Jacey Klaver, Easton Klaver, Gracie Possehl, Elliotte Harding, Zach Klaver (Danika Campidilli), Kelsey Klaver, Beau Klaver, Branden Roberts, Britney Roberts; great grandson, Briar Klaver; brother-in-law, Thyrol (Alene) McCollough of Webster City; and sister-in-law, Carol Wenger of Timberville, VA. In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his brother, Vern Klaver; sister, Erma Mamminga and a sister in infancy; sister-in-law, Verla Klaver and brother-in-law, Carl Mamminga. Leo was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kamrar where he was a deacon for over 12 years. He was also a dedicated member and past president of the Kamrar Lions Club. He served as Mayor of Kamrar from 2000- 2007. Leo was a soft spoken, kind hearted, strong man who had a kind word for everyone and preferred placing other's needs in front of his own. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and took great joy in spending time with them. He loved his family, farming and the Kamrar Community.
