Condolence From: Sue Richardson Halverson, friend and client
Condolence: In reading Larry's obituary I noted a significant omission--Larry's very substantial pro bono work for his clients. Larry, like his father, was our family lawyer for years. Numerous times I called Larry to talk through an issue or a concern--when we finished our conversation, I'd say "Send me your bill." He rarely did. Larry wasn't in the legal business solely to make money--his goal was to provide advice, representation, and emotional support to his clients, and often to those who weren't even clients. As we watched our own billing rates rise to $100, $200, $400 an hour, Larry kept his services affordable for those he served. And as a bonus, when you hired Larry, you got Nancy too! They were country lawyers together--in the finest sense of the term. We will always be grateful for our associations, as friends and as clients.

Condolence: My sympathy goes out to Nancy and girls. I will never forget the help and kindness Larry and Nancy extended to me when my husband, LeRoy, died. He handled a real mess for no compensation and was so kind and supportive to me and my children. His act of kindness has never been forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you Nancy.

Condolence: My mother, Lucy Olson, asked that I write a note about Larry. My parents were clients of Larry and his father before him, but more importantly, they were friends for over 40 years. One of my mother's most vivid memories was when Larry and my dad were hospitalized with their respective cancers. Because of the serious nature of both their conditions they were not allowed to have contact with other patients. So the two of them stood at the door of their rooms and poked their heads out to chat with each other. That simple act of friendship and support meant a great deal to my father in his final days. Our entire family will miss Larry and we will always cherish his friendship and his professional assistance.

Condolence: I'll never forget the first time we had a chance to meet Larry and Nancy. It was a Friday night several years ago out at the golf course, and of course it was couple's golf night. Annette and I were new members and didn't get hooked up with a group right away, so we were playing by ourselves just enjoying the evening. After playing a few of the holes Larry and Nancy recognized that we were by ourselves, drove their cart over to us and asked us to join their group. We didn't want to impose, but without giving it a second thought, Larry reached down, grabbed the ball we were playing, and threw it into their fairway telling us that we were with their group now. Larry was always good about introducing us to other members and making connections for us. We will always appreciate the friendship and support shown to all four of us, and will miss him.

Condolence: I didn't know Larry in the slightest, but when I saw the opening line of his obituary, "He was greeted on the Rainbow Bridge by his favorites: "Judge","Jiggs", "Te", "Frosty and "Blue", I knew I would have liked him and am sorry that I missed him.
