Obituary for Jean Clark Hatcher

Jeanetta Rose Helton, daughter of Ivan and Esther Graham Helton, was born October 13, 1927 at Mercer, Missouri. She received her education in southern Iowa areas. On May 5, 1944, she married Harvey Leslie Clark at Princeton, MO. The couple resided at Pleasanton, Des Moines and moved to Webster City in 1961. To this union three daughters were born. Jean worked at Woolworths then Ben Franklin’s. Mr. Clark died September 4, 1973. She continued to reside at Webster City. On February 14, 1975, she married Jack Leslie Hatcher at Webster City. The couple were owner/operators of Jack and Jean’s Lounge for 28 years. They sold the lounge in 2001. Mr. Hatcher died December 7, 2004. Jean is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Bev and Earl Stewart, Debbie and Jerry Ragland, all of Webster City; Judy and Craig Clemens of Ferris, TX; grandchildren, Layne and Carmen Stewart of Vermillion, SD; Dawn and Tracy Brim, Julie and Todd Madsen, Jamie Ragland, all of Webster City; great-grandchildren, Carson Grace Brim; Sarah, John and Pat Gregg; sister, Bonnie McCollough Ogland of Webster City; step-children, Marvin Hatcher of Kenosha, WI; Larry and Darlene Hatcher of Cedar Falls; step-daughter-in-law, Chong Hatcher of Wahiawa, Hawaii; several nieces and nephews In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Orval, Dean and Lloyd Helton; sisters, Betty Norem, Shirley Jessen and Lois Simpson; step-daughter-in-law, Jeri Hatcher; step-son, Maurice Hatcher. She was a former member of the New Salem Baptist Church of Leon, Iowa; Webster City Womens Bowling Association; Moose Family Center and a Dart League sponsor.
