Obituary for Janice Adel Thelke

Janice Thelke, 77, of Blairsburg, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Careage in Clarion, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Vernon Lutheran Church near Dows, with Pastor Ron Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Janice Adel Brown daughter of Kenneth and Evelyn Huffman Brown was born on January 14, 1934 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Janice attended Pope Joy Elementary School and graduated from Iowa Falls High School. On January 24, 1954 she married Robert E. Thelke in Iowa Falls. The couple resided north of Blairsburg. She was an active member of the Vernon Lutheran Church. Janice enjoyed gardening, knitting and quilting. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her. Survivors include her husband Robert of Blairsburg; children, DeAnn (Dave) Johnson of Eagle Grove; Dean Thelke of Grand Prairie, Texas; Gene (Kathy) Thelke of Dows; Beth (Gary) Burgert of Middlesex, NY; brothers, Roy (Barbara) Brown of Kent, WA; Bob (Naida) Brown of Bondurant; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
