Obituary for Gladys Lena Butler

Gladys L. Butler, 82, of Webster City, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor John Wilson officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Vernon Lutheran Cemetery near Dows. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday at Fosters. Gladys Lena Jensen daughter of Andrew and Govie Lenning Jensen was born February 5, 1929 in Ellsworth, Iowa. She received her education from the Jewell Community Schools, graduating in 1946. On June 28, 1947 she married Harold H. Butler at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed the Butler family farm north of Blairsburg. Mr. Butler died on May 10, 1988. Gladys has been residing at Crestview Senior Living since July of 2010. Survivors include her children, James H. Butler of Storm Lake; Helen Jo (Ted) Hollingsworth of Blairsburg; John H. Butler of Webster City; Joel Butler of Blairsburg; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews. In addition to her husband Harold, she was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Lavonne Jensen and Mickey Butler. Gladys was a member of the Vernon Lutheran Church of Dows, where she was active in the Ladies aid. She was also a former member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Webster City.
