Obituary for Geraldine "Gerry" Cook

Geraldine "Gerry" Cook, 81, of Webster City, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Crestview Senior Living. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Geraldine Marjorie Danielson, daughter of Peter and Nora Corsen Danielson, was born March 7, 1928 at Decorah, Iowa. She received her education in the Decorah school system, graduating in 1946. She started working at the Rath Packing Company at Waterloo. On June 11, 1950, she married Ronald James Cook at Decorah. The couple resided at Waterloo. In November of 1965, they moved to Webster City. She had been employed at the Iowa Central Farm Business Association for 29 years. Mr. Cook died July 29, 2002. She had resided at Crestview since September of 2007. Mrs. Cook is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Jan Cook of Webster City; Ronda and Tim Noel of Urbandale; son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Lynette Cook of Urbandale; grandchildren, Shawntel and Reanna Noel; Garrett and Austin Cook; sister, Harriet Toras of Crestwood, IL; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Norine, Roger, Roland and Gordon Danielson; sisters, Loretta Henning; Palma Buck; Edythe Griebel and Olive Lee. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Asbury United Methodist Women and active in various church functions, J.E. chapter of P.E.O., past president of the Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary.
