Obituary for Gerald "G.B." Evans

Gerald (G.B. or Gary) Evans, 58, of Webster City, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. Scott Boone officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:45 p.m. followed by the scripture service. A lifetime resident of Hamilton County, G.B. Evans son of Gerald L. and Betty LaMar Evans was born on July 6, 1950 at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. He graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School in 1968. On April 2, 1972 he married Connie Boldra. He was very active in St. Thomas Aquinas Church and the Knights of Columbus. He most recently worked as Postmaster Relief with the United States Postal Service in Blairsburg. G.B. played with the Karl L. King Band for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Dow Jones and the Averages Band for many years, was an organizer for the Webster City Community Band and played with other area bands. He sang with the Webster City Community Chorus prior to his illness. For many years, he was a Realtor and owned CENTURY 21 Gold Key Realty. He moved into property management and real estate education. G.B. was a charter member of the Webster City MLS. He was also very active in the Republican Party. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Jean Anne (Sam) McDonald of Northfield, MN; Lori (Eric) Kilpatrick of Lorimor, IA; Kendra (Robert) Callahan of Webster City, IA; and Casey (Sean) Crees of Panora, IA; and his grandchildren, who were a great joy to him, Ben Kilpatrick, Spencer and Justin Callahan, Tim McDonel and Morgan Crees. G.B. is also survived by his mother, Betty Evans of Hubbard; brothers, Bernie (Kristi) Evans of Johnston; Jim Evans and fiancé, Margie Bahr of Boone; Ron (Carole) Evans of Grand Island, NE; Rich (Deanna) Evans of Fridley, MN; Rob (Donna) Evans of Ellsworth; Dave (Cindy) Evans of Huxley; Ken (Rhonda) Evans of Earlham; Tim (Heidi) Evans of Gilbert, AZ; Carl (Rose) Evans of Northfield, MN; sisters, Nina (Al) Baumgartner of Johnson, CO; Wilma Evans of Hubbard; Ada Colleen (Keith) Jeno of Maxwell; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. G.B. was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. Because of G.B.'s love of singing, the family invites any who are interested in singing with the St. Thomas Aquinas Choir, for G.B.'s Funeral Mass, to please attend practice at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church
