Obituary for Gary William Young

Gary W. Young, 79, of Webster City, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Chapel. Rev. Kerin Lang with Iowa Hospice will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and also prior to service. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191. Gary William Young, son of Almon and Mary Seay Young, was born April 7, 1934 in Graettinger, Iowa. He attended Graettinger Public School and graduated in 1952. He served with the U. S. Marines in Ordnance from 1954 to 1956. On July 13, 1957, he married Gloria Elaine Gatewood at Jackson, MN. The couple resided in Webster City. He worked at Electrolux for forty years as an area manager. Gloria passed away January 15, 2001. He is survived by sons and daughters, Calvin (Barb) Young; Robin (Judy) Young and William Young, all of Webster City; Luana (Donald) Hollingshead of Williams; Mindy (Joe) Scott of Garner; grandchildren, Kellie, Greg, Morgan, Madison, Benjamin, Courtney, Katelyn, Heidi, Hillary, Breanna, Hailey, Alaina; great-grandchildren, Hayven, Brennan, Evan, Kailey, Carter, Kempton; sisters, Marilyn Strain of Webster City; Shirley Rickard of Spokane, WA; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Melanie Young; great-grandaughter, Leighton Myers; brothers, Elliott, Gordon, Terry and Vic Young. He was a member of American Legion Post # 191.
