Obituary for Frances Mulholland

Frances A. Mulholland, 95, of Webster City, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Frances Adele Woods, daughter of Francis and Elva Keck Woods was born on November 9, 1912 at Marcus, Iowa. She received her education and graduated from Washta High School in Cherokee County Iowa in 1930. She attended Morningside College as a music major. On March 4, 1939, Frances married Lloyd Hetzel Mulholland in Elkpoint, South Dakota. She worked as a bookkeeper for Mulholland Chrysler-Plymouth Auto and retail sales at Eichman’s Clothing Store and Lubber’s Clothing Store, all in Webster City. Lloyd died on September 11, 1952. Frances and her family continued to reside at Webster City. Mrs. Mulholland is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Bill Galli, Colleen and John Eggener, all of Cedar Rapids; Shirley Mulholland and Alan Cusick of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Katie Mulholland of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Greg (Penny) Grove, Kellie (Dan) Johnson, John (Tracie) Eggener Jr., Thad (Pam) Mulholland, Tim (Tonya) Mulholland, Mollie Mulholland, and Toby (Michelle) Mulholland; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Gerald (Carol) Hunter. In addition to her husband, Lloyd, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Frances was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist church where she served on various committees, sang in the choir for 45 years and directed the youth choir and bell choir in past years. Frances also volunteered for Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary, League of Women Voters, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, various Bridge Clubs, charter member of Elk Ladies and Lionelles. Frances was dearly loved by her family and friends. Her laughter and her spirit were known and will be missed by all who knew her. Her gifts of music and poetry were a blessing to those with whom she shared them. She loved her family, her friends, her church and she will be missed. Memorials may be given to the Asbury United Methodist Church.
