Obituary for Dorothy O. Lappin

Dorothy Lappin, 93, of rural Webster City, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Patrick Weidemier officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the church prior to the service. Dorothy Odette Hilpipre, daughter of August and Fanny Emmenderffor Hilpipre, was born March 4, 1921 at Blairsburg. She received her education in the Blairsburg Public School. She worked in the food service department at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. On February 20, 1944, she married Thurman E. Lappin at Williams. The couple farmed east of Webster City, and later farmed south of Webster City. Mrs. Lappin is survived by her husband, Thurman; sons and daughter-in-law, Frank and Lois Lappin of Webster City; Roger Lappin of Santa Ana, CA; grandchildren, Monique and Bobby Deal of Dardanelle, AR; Michelle and Ryan Casady of Webster City; Bret and Amanda Lappin of Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Josh and Katie Casady and Ella Lappin; many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edmund, Glen, Clarence, Marcel Hilpipre and three brothers in infancy; sisters, Elsie Story, Erma Stuhmer, Hortense Mortenson and Irene Barkema.
