Obituary for Dorothy Mae Hanson

Dorothy Mae Hanson, 89, of Augusta, Georgia, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor John Nett officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Dorothy Mae Brooks, daughter of Alvin and Francis (Clabaugh) Brooks was born on Oct. 19, 1924 in Blairsburg, Iowa. She attended Webster City High School. She married Peyton LeRoy Allie. To this union 3 children were born, Leroy, Judy and Lynda. On July 3, 1962, she married Richard John "Red" Hanson. In 1981, Red and Dorothy moved from Arkansas to Augusta, Georgia where they Co-Founded New Life Natural Foods. Dorothy is survived by her children, Judy and husband Eldon Pigsley of Webster City, and Lynda and husband Tom Buxton of Augusta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Rory Raven of San Antonio, TX; Brooke Buxton of Augusta, GA; Rhett and wife Leah Raven of Eldora; Heather and husband Lucio DiCicco of Augusta, GA; Amber and husband Levi Smith of Steamboat Rock; Sarah and husband Jason Thornton of Augusta, GA Sherri and husband Brad Berg of Woolstock; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peyton Allie, son Leroy Allie, and husband Richard (Red) Hanson, her four brothers Randall, Melvin, Stuart, and Riley and two Sisters Yvonne Prehm, and Retta Ranes.
