Obituary for Dorothy Bennett

Dorothy Bennett, 93, of Boone, died Friday, October 29, 2010, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church at 703 Arden St. Boone, Iowa with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery, west of Boone. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday ,with family present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Prior to the service on Tuesday there will be visitation at the United Methodist Church in Boone beginning at 9:00 a.m. Dorothy Emma Sorber, daughter of Charles and Cora Alsever Sorber was born June 29, 1917 , at Dallas, SD. On October 30, 1935, she married George "Buss" Bennett at Gregory,SD. The couple retired from farming in the Stanhope area. She held various jobs including Morton Frozen Foods, Farm Journal, Avon Sales and Woodard Feeds and a dry cleaning route in Dayton. She managed Welcome Wagon at Nevada and was a R.S.V.P. volunteer in Nevada and at the Boone County Hospital. For the past three years she has resided at the Eastern Star Home in Boone. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years in September of 1989 and her daughter, Darlene Trueblood, in April of 1993. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Joy (Leroy) Tegels of Williford, AR; Karen (Lowell) Roney of Boone; Keith (Bev) Trueblood of Kingman, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eldora Whiton of Perry, IA and several nieces and nephews.
