Obituary for Delores Arlene Smith

Delores A. (Dee) Smith, 91, of Webster City, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Missionary Alliance Church at Blairsburg, with Pastor Stan Watne and Doug White officiating. Burial will be in the Blairsburg Cemetery, north of Blairsburg. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and at the church prior to the funeral service. Delores Arlene Smith, daughter of Milton and Mable Van Buskirk Segar, was born August 18, 1920 at Blairsburg. She received her education in the Blairsburg Public School and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On November 24, 1938, she married S. Everett Smith, on her parents farm, north of Blairsburg. The couple were married for 71 years and farmed in the Blairsburg area for many years. They retired to Webster City on December 20, 2005. Mr. Smith died September 17, 2010. She had resided at Southfield since February of 2010. Delores is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Lewis of Marshfield, MO; Sherry and LeRoy Peck of Webster City; Kathleen Paull of Kansas City, MO; Ruth and William Cramer of Clarion; Elaine Robertson of Kamrar; son and daughter-in-law, LeeClair and Martha Smith of Rocheport, MO; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Velma and Paul Mathis; brother, Wilbur Segar, all of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church and was a Sunday School teacher.She was also active in women's missionary fellowship and was a member of the Women's Farm Bureau, the Needlecraft Club and the Blairsburg Quilt Club.
