Obituary for David Robert Kepler

David Robert Kepler, 73, of Webster City, died Monday, June 16, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Chad Halbach officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Center Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. David Robert Kepler, son of Ralph and Anne Kirchner Kepler, was born January 30, 1941 at Webster City. In 1959 he graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City. David honorably served in the U. S. Army from 1963 to 1969. He was a specialist 4th class, LE 31-3 Cryptographic Operator in the 17th Signal Battalion stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. On March 7, 1970, he married Becky Doolittle at the Church of Christ in Webster City. He had worked as a pressman at the Freeman Journal for 20 years and at Allen Printing in Clarion for 29 years. David retired in 2003. David is survived by his wife, Becky; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Wilson of Ankeny; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Misty Kepler of Webster City; grandchildren, Amanda Foote, Heather Wilson, Jessi Wilson and Trace Kepler; great-grandchildren, Conner, Morgan and Ethan Foote and Brayden Andorf; sister, Virginia Sowle of Webster City; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gardner of Rochester, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special mom, Mildred Clair, sisters, Linda (Steve) Jaeger; Nancy (Michael) Leitch and families all of Minnesota. David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wendell Gardner; brother-in-law Bill Sowle, and special dad, Elmer Clair. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Hamilton County Republicans,Webster City Radio Patrol and was a Vietnam veteran.
