Obituary for Cleo LaVonne Fisher

Cleo Fisher, 86, of Webster City, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Patrick Wiedemeier officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday. Cleo LaVonne Grove, daughter of Harve and Tressie Slade Grove, was born December 21, 1924 near Jewell on the family farm. She graduated from Ellsworth High School and AIB in Des Moines. On August 17, 1946, she married William Reginald Fisher at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. She worked at the Webster City CO-OP as a secretary, as an Avon representative for many years and 21 years as a bookkeeper for Peterson Construction, retiring in 1982. Mr. Fisher died December 6, 2008. Cleo is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Roger Port of Franklin, TN; Cindy and Arvid Huisman of Ankeny; Sue and Steve Anderson of Webster City; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Nola (Arnie) Lovelace of Webster City; brothers, Percy Grove of Britt; Neal Grove of Webster City; Roger (Ruth) Grove of Madrid; Rex (Sue) Grove of Bettendorf; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Laverne Greenfield; sister, Ann Lemon; and sisters-in-law, Carol Grove and Myrt Grove. Mrs. Fisher was a member of the First Baptist Church. She volunteered at the Hamilton Hospital gift shop and was a member of the hospital auxilary. Cleo and Bill were former members of the Pairs and Squares Square Dance Club and delivered Meals on Wheels.
