Obituary for Clark Cottington Coats

Clark Coats, 95, of Stratford, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Riverside North in Ames. Private family services will be held at a later date. Clark Cottington Coats, son of Mearl and Honor Cottington Coats, was born November 24, 1919 at the farm northwest of Stanhope in Webster Township. He graduated from Stanhope Consolidated Schools. On February 21, 1941, he married Clarice Maxine Williams in Grant City, MO. Clark was a farmer in Webster Township of Hamilton County. He retired in the 1980s. Clarice preceded him in death on August 10, 2000. He moved to Stratford in 2004. Clark is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Coats of Phoenix, AZ, Mark (Jennifer) Coats of Charlotte, NC, Randy (Bobbi) Coats of Boone, Kim (Michelle) Coats of Bakersfield, CA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Arvel Coats, great-granddaughter, Tessa Coats and sister, Marvis Olsen. He was a member of the Stanhope Parish Church.
