Obituary for Alida T. Weber

Alida Weber, 86, formerly of Mason City, passed away July 4, 2014 at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Visitation will be held from 1pm to 3pm Friday, July 11th at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 Pennsylvania Ave North, Mason City. A memorial graveside service will follow at the Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. Alida Therese Younke, daughter of Charley and Mary (Breed) Younke, was born October 18, 1927 at Mason City. She attended St. Joseph grade school. She quit high school to help care for her family following the death of her father. On February 5, 1948, she married John (Jack) M. Weber at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Mason City. The couple resided at Mason City. Mr. Weber died in 2008. Alida then moved to Webster City. Mrs. Weber is survived by son and daughter-in-law, John (Jack) and JoLayne Weber and daughter and son-in-law Jan and Jeff Crane, all of Webster City; three grandchildren, Joseph Weber, Jennifer Dubberke, Charlie Crane; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Schultz, Seth Hagenson; five great-grandchildren, Celia Dubberke, Sasha, Natasha, Violetta and Dahlia Flower; four step-great-grandchildren, Zackary Hagenson, Camden, Sloan and Bailey Schultz; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Chuck and Fred Younke; sisters, June Russel and Mary Ann Merchant. Alida enjoyed family gatherings and it was always a special treat to go to the casino a couple times a year. Alida worked at Stork Land and State Brand Creamery many years ago but was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed watching the birds visit her feeder and the occasional deer. She enjoyed her short stay at Southfield, especially the bingo, listening and singing to the music, having lunch and visiting with the ladies.
