Obituary for Alice Mae Hillis

Alice Hillis, 70, of Duncombe, died Monday, April 27, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Craig Miller officiating. Burial will follow the services in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Hampton. Visitation will be on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Alice Mae Hansen, daughter of A. Henry and Lydia Lund Hansen, was born on January 7, 1945 at Hampton. She graduated from C.A.L. Community Schools. She married Carman Glaspie on April 5, 1964 in Hampton. The couple later divorced. She married Roy Glenn Hillis on March 21, 1987 in Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City before moving to Duncombe in 1997. She worked at Farm Journal and bought The Vault in 1991. Alice retired in 2008. Alice is survived by her children, David (Jacquie) Glaspie of Thor; Debra Glaspie-Geis of Duncombe; Douglas Glaspie of Holualoa, HI; Darla (Craig) Graves of West Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; niece, Melissa Gregory of Randleman, NC; sister-in-law, Anna (Steve) Jicka of Mason City; brother-in-law, John Hillis of Grand Island, NE; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; brother, Harry Hansen; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kollman, brother-in-law, Andy Hillis and nephew, Matthew Hansen. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. Alice was a member of the Moose Family Center in Fort Dodge and the American Legion Auxiliary #491.
