Obituary for Albert Edward Hove

Albert Hove, 94, of Webster City, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Southfield Wellness Community. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Revs. Mike Kroona and Kari Foss officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Albert Edward Hove was born May 1, 1919 the son of Peter and Florence Miller Hove on a farm 6 miles southeast of Stanhope. He moved to Stanhope when he was a year old and graduated from Stanhope Consolidated School in May of 1936. Albert graduated from Capital City Commercial College in August of 1938. He was employed by Look Magazine in Des Moines for 3 years. Albert was inducted into the Army on August 1, 1941. He took Basic Training in Fort Monmouth, NJ and was sent to Seattle, WA in November of 1941. Albert married Helen Knight on June 7, 1942 at Tillamook, OR. After his marriage he was sent overseas to Umnak Island in the Aleutian Islands in July of 1942. He was stationed there for 28 months and was assigned to the 11th Air Force reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He returned to the States in January of 1945. Albert graduated from Drake University in 1949. He was employed by Hove Truck Lines for 30 years and by Peed Publishing for 3 years. He and Helen moved to Story City in 1986. They retired in Webster City in 1991. Albert is survived by his wife Helen; his children, Tim Hove and spouse Jackie, Carole and spouse Robert Holdaway; grandchildren, Ben and Jesse Hove, Becky Hove, Grace and Hannah Holdaway; great-grandson, Gunner Hove; sister, Lenora Ebersole, daughter-in-law, Barbara Hove; several nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, son Lieutenant Colonel Warren Hove; US Army Reserve-Retired, brother, Melford and sister, Alma Rethman.
