Obituary for Alan D. Odegaard

Alan D. Odegaard, 60, of Ogden, formerly of Webster City, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Boone County Hospital. Memorial services will be held at (Time) (Day) at the Church Of Christ with Pastor Ray Artrip and Steve Young officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on (Day). Alan Duane Odegaard, son of Harold and Gertrude Knapp Odegaard was born on January 9, 1947 in Webster City. He received his education and graduated from Webster City Senior High School in 1965. He attended Webster City Junior College until entering the U.S. Air Force in 1967. On March 20, 1971, he married Jean Fletchall in Webster City. The couple later divorced. Alan had worked at various jobs before being employed at Electrolux, where he had worked for over 21 years until his retirement due to failing health. He had been residing in Ogden since August of 2007. Alan is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Steve Young of Webster City; son, Eric Odegaard who is serving in the U.S. Navy; brother, Mike Odegaard of Webster City; sisters, Kristi Nerem of Minneapolis, MN. and Laurie Tate of Webster City. Also surviving is his mother, Gertrude Sherwood of California; stepmother, Joyce Odegaard of Webster City and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; stepfather, Frank Sherwood and his brother, Billy Sherwood. Alan enjoyed watching sports and was a classic movie buff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Odegaard memorial, 417 Oakwood Drive, Webster City, Iowa 50595.
