Roger Hayes, 87, of Webster City died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Burial at Graceland Cemetery will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Roger Lenn Hayes, son of Warren and Blanche Nelson Hayes, was born, October 26, 1931 in Webster City. He graduated from Lincoln High in 1949 and attended Webster City Junior College. He served in the National Guard from 1952 until 1960. He married Teresa Ann Newton at Sacred Heart in Fort Dodge on July 23, 1955. Roger farmed for many years north of Duncombe. He also worked at Fort Dodge Gypsum, Nissen Packing and with the State of Iowa Emergency Medical Services for 28 years. He retired in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa, of Webster City; daughter, Roxanne Terry of Yukon, OK, daughter-in-law, Sonja Hayes of Ames; daughter, Dee Ann (Jeff) Weir; son, Roger (Polly) Hayes Jr. all of Stanhope; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford Hayes of Webster City, LeRoy (Karen) Hayes of Des Moines, Russell (Connie) Hayes of Stewartville, MN, Gene (Jan) Hayes of Fort Dodge, Ted (Jeri) Hayes of Webster City; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Hayes; son-in-law, Rick Terry; brothers, Harlan, Bob, Gary and Steve Hayes.
Roger was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
