Virginia Parrish

Virginia Parrish, 95, of Story City formerly of Jewell, died Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Bethany Life in Story City. Private family services will be held at Cass Center Cemetery. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with caring for the family.
Virginia Beverly Johnson, daughter of Marvin and Bernice (Butz) Johnson, was born December 22, 1927 in Eagle Grove. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1945. On November 2, 1946, Virginia was united in marriage to Raymond M. Parrish at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked for 23 years for ISU Press in Ames in the accounting department. The couple lived outside of Jewell until Raymond’s death, when Virginia moved into Jewell.
She is survived by her daughter, Karleen (Tim) Valley of Jewell; sons, Dennis (Cheryl) Parrish of Gilbert; Randy (Gena) Parrish of Massanutten, VA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Charlene Baker of Des Moines.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1986; son, Michael Parrish in 1994; her parents; siblings, Marvin Johnson Jr., John Johnson, Bernard Johnson, Delores Wergeland and Marlene Vorland.
