Veronica Fortune

Veronica “Vera” Fortune, 95, of Williams died Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with caring for Veronica and family.
Veronica Elizabeth Fortune, daughter of Stephen and Marie (Vaszari) Kochish, was born January 6, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Pottstown senior high. On October 15, 1950, Vera was united in marriage to Verdis L. Fortune in Fort Dodge. For over 32 years, she worked as a cook at the I-35 Truck Stop. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, quilting, crocheting and loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Vic) Zorn of Williams, Ginny (John) Eason of West Des Moines, Ron (Jody) Fortune of Webster City, Don (Linda) Fortune of Duncombe; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and sister, Marie Becsi of Pottstown, PA and two nieces.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Verdis; parents, Stephen, and Marie Kochish; brother, Stephen Kochish; sister-in-law, Jane Kochish; brother-in-law, Joe Becsi; granddaughter, Brenda Zorn and grandson, Mark Naber.
