Susan E. Slauson Lubbers, 58, of Tallahassee, Florida died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at St. George Island, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Meyer presiding. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:45 p.m. Friday followed by a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at Fosters. Susan Ellen Slauson daughter of Duane and Jane McMullen Slauson was born on January 12, 1952 in Monticello, Iowa. She received her education from the Greeley and Maynard Public schools and graduated from Webster City Senior High School in 1970. On May 26, 1974 she married Dr. Phillip R. Lubbers at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City. The couple resided in several communities, and traveled extensively, following Phillip's career in the military. In 1988, the couple moved to Thomasville, GA. and in 2005, to Tallahasse, FL. Susan was a Real Estate Agent for many years as well as a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Phillip Lubbers of Tallahassee, FL; mother, Jane Slauson of Webster City; brothers, Michael Slauson of Maple Grove, MN; Jim (Debbie) Slauson of Lantana, TX; Joe (Christine) Slauson of Alden, IA; 14 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Duane Slauson; and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City. Her memberships also included the Thomasville Cultural Center, where she was active in fundraising with their annual "Pig Gig" event. She was also a member of the Newcomers Club in Tallahassee. Susan was a happy outgoing person who loved her family. She loved animals, especially her pet Cocker and Springer Spaniels. Her hobbies included, fishing, gardening, golfing, collecting artwork, and cooking. She participated for over 10 years in the annual Chili Cook Off held at St. George Island, where she earned many awards for her efforts.
