Sue Asklund

Sue Asklund, 81, a life-long resident of Webster City, died Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, with a luncheon to follow.

Judith Susan Shaeffer, daughter of Samuel and Delores (Kingsley) Shaeffer, was born February 20, 1945 in Webster City, Iowa. She graduated from Webster City high school in 1964 and attended Webster City Junior College. On November 6, 1964, Sue was united in marriage to Robert Glen Asklund at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City. She worked as a secretary for Van Diest Supply, then ran an in-home daycare prior to working for the City of Webster City for 27 years, retiring in 2009.

She is survived by sons, Brian (Catherine) Asklund of Nevada, Jason Asklund of Webster City; grandchildren, Brittany, Samantha, Skye, Riley, Caitlyn, Conner; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hendrix, Lillith, Sebastian, Ace, Callum; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sherryl (Ernie) Rairdin of Cedar Rapids and many extended family members.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in 2025; her parents, Sam and Dode Shaeffer and sister, Lori Kelley.

She enjoyed playing the drums and saxophone in the Webster City Marching Band during her school years. She loved weekends spent camping with her family and showering her dogs with love and affection every chance she could. She found joy in tending to her flower beds, and collecting Boyds Bears and antique porcelain lady heads. Sue was a member of the Crazy 8 Card Club for 60 years. She was active in several bowling leagues, and an avid sports fan.

Sue was loved and will be missed by many.
