Shirley Bossenberger
November 1, 1934 — July 24, 2023
Shirley Bossenberger, 88, of Ames passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 after a short illness at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2023 at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Shirley Jean Egy, was born November 1, 1934 in Winterset, Iowa to Ray and Helen (Haymond) Egy. She attended Winterset schools and graduated from Colorado Women’s College with a degree in Medical Technology. After graduation, she worked in a doctor’s office in Des Moines.
On July 1, 1962, Shirley was united in marriage to William Bossenberger. After moving to Ames in 1965, she worked in the medical records department of Mary Greeley Medical Center. Shirley took time off to be a stay-at-home mom after the birth of their son, Steven. In later years, she was the office manager at her husband’s business. She was a member of the Ames Women’s Club and Memorial Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William of Ames; son, Steven Bossenberger of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Rebecca Rae and Steven Austin Bossenberger of West Des Moines; sister, Donna Egy of Johnston and several cousins and extended family members.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ray Egy Jr.
