Shelley Clausen, 66 of Stanhope died Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Lawn Hill Cemetery, south of Stanhope. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shelley Jean Yates, daughter of Wendell and Ardys Gabrielson Yates, was born June 2, 1958 in Webster City. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1976 and received her bachelor's degree in animal science and a master’s degree in business administration from Iowa State University. Shelley was united in marriage to Charles Roger Clausen on May 1, 1982 in Stanhope. She worked many years at Electrolux until their closing, when she went to work for the US Postal Service – Stanhope office.
She is survived by son, Seth Clausen of Stanhope; daughter, Sarah (Chris) Keenan of Stanhope; grandchildren, Wyatt Clausen, Christian Keenan, Elijah Keenan, Joseph Keenan, Logan Keenan, and baby girl, Charlie Keenan who is due to arrive Sept . 27th; brother, Lynn (Jennifer) Yates of Indianola; sister, Leann (Phil Gilespie) of Cordova, IL; sister-in-law, Cathy (Rod) Springer of Stanhope and several extended family members along with her beloved pets, Putter, Maisy and Ruby.
Shelley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 2022 and her parents, Wendell and Ardys.
She was a member of the Stanhope Parish, was active in the Webster City Community Theater as a stage producer and director and she loved her horses. Shelley loved her children and grandchildren beyond compare and was in love with decorating for the holidays.
Shelley missed her husband every second since his passing. It brings the family great comfort knowing that they are together again. Shelley will be missed by so many left behind.
