Rose Messerly

Rose Messerly, 76, of Duncombe, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. There will be no funeral service held. Rose Catherine Slattery was born November 20, 1940 in Pocahontas, the daughter of Francis and Isabella Alig Slattery. She graduated from Laurens High School in 1959. She married Donald Floyd Messerly on May 19, 1973 in Laurens. The couple lived in Vincent for a year before moving to Duncombe. She was a waitress at the Vault. She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Rosie (Joe) Tigner of Duncombe; two granddaughters, Jesslyn and Keyara; brother, George (Vicki) Slattery of Mason City. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by five siblings, Jim Slattery, Ray Slattery, Bob Slattery, Mary Edwards and Ann Larson. Rose was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, was a Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
