Ronald Carlson

Ronald Carlson, 79, of Stanhope, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8th at the Stanhope Parish, with Pastor Suzie Moore officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Stanhope Parish Ronald Dick Carlson, son of Ransom and Esther Dick Carlson was born Jan. 21, 1931 on a farm near Stanhope. He received his education from Stanhope Schools graduating in 1948. After graduation Ron farmed for a few years before entering into the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. On April 17, 1955 he married Marilyn Gabrielson at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. The couple farmed in the Stanhope area. Ron is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children and grandchildren, Ronda (Brian) Nass of Rochester, MN; Bethany (David) and Abby Olsen, Greg Nass and Jenny Nass; Steve (Lori) Carlson of Stanhope; Cari Carlson, Lynsey (Kyle) Doyen, and Megan (JJ) Elliott; Lori (Jon) Hanson of Stanhope; Erin and Jessica Hanson; David (Lea Ann) Carlson of Jewell; Molly (Tyler) Joe and Sam Casey, Rebecca Carlson (fiancé Gary Gansen) and Kendra Carlson; brothers and sisters-in-law Francis (Virginia) Carlson of Stanhope; Garwin (Marcia) Carlson of Klamath Falls, OR and Keith ( Martha) Carlson of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews.
