Robert Yeager, 89, of Webster City, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar with Reverend Paul Fischer officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Presbyterian Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City. Robert Jay Yeager, the son of Noble and Helen Lindsey Yeager, was born on September 22, 1927 in Eagle Grove. He attended school in Webster City. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947, taking part in the atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll. He married Shirley Marilyn Wright on April 25, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The family farmed near Kamrar. Bob also delivered motorhomes, and worked for Maudlins and Franklins. The couple moved to Webster City in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Shirley and his dog Gabe of Webster City; children, Randy (Merna) Yeager of Greenwood, AR; Kristy (Al) Bentley of Richmond, TX; Jeff (Carol) Yeager of Kamrar; Mitch (Donna) Yeager of Grimes; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings; Joan Jacobson of Webster City; Merle (Doris) Yeager of Texarkana, TX; Bonnie (Paul) Ford of White Bear Lake, MN; Bruce (Myrna) Yeager of Chaska, MN; sisters-in-law, Frankie Yeager of Bonita, CA and JoAnn Yeager of Lodi, CA; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings; Jane (Woody) Widdowson, Gayle (Bud) Elm, Kay (Don) Fisher, Bus Yeager, Harlan (Sharon) Yeager; Carroll Yeager and Dennis Yeager; and brother-in-law, Vern Jacobson. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar and the American Legion Post #191. He and Shirley wintered in Weslaco, TX for 17 years. Bob always had a warm smile and friendly handshake. He enjoyed dancing, playing games and visiting with family and friends. He was a loving husband and father. We will miss his humor, wit and steadfast love. Memorials may be directed to the Hamilton County Outreach Food Pantry or the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar in memory of Bob.
