Richard Willman

Richard Willman, 77, of Des Moines died Monday, November 13, 2023 at Traditions Memory Care in Newton. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Richard Allen Willman, son of Peter and Sarah (Wenthe) Willman, was born September 12, 1946 in Independence, Iowa. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1965 and received a bachelor's degree from Mankato State University. Richard served in the United States Army from 1968-1970. He worked as a manager at numerous Earl May Garden Centers in Iowa and Missouri for many years.
He is survived by his brother, Steve (Connie) Willman of Blue Springs, MO; sisters, Betty (David) Fosberg of Wichita, KS, Suzanne (Tim) O’Brien of Rio Linda, CA; sister-in-law, Susie Willman of Webster City; nieces, Sherry (Tim) Adams of Webster City, Debora Fosberg Elliott of Belle Plaine, KS and nephews, Davey Fosberg of Wichita, KS, Jamie Watne of Rio Linda, CA, Chuck (SuAnne) Willman of Marshalltown.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters in infancy and brother, LaVerne “Pete” Willman.
He was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of American Legion Post #191. Richard enjoyed fishing, traveling and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
